58 J-3 Cub
Request for Advice
Good Morning Group,
I am going to work on the landing gear fairings
today. However, in anticipation of what is coming up, I would like some
advanced advice on three of the remaining efforts. The picture below shows
the forward part of the J-3 Cub's fuselage as it is today.
I have three coats of clear dope on the nose
block, but as you can see it is not yellow like the tissue on the fuselage.
I do not think I can successfully cover the nose block with yellow tissue,
so I am left with trying to paint it and match the yellow tissue color.
(1) What type of yellow paint should I use to
paint the nose block and where do I get it? I also need to paint the
four engine cylinders, the two main wheels, and the tail wheel a flat black.
(2) What type of black paint should I use and where do
I get it? After I cut out the openings for the windows, I need to
install the windshield and side windows. (3) What type
of clear material should I use and where do I get it? Once I use the
windshield and side window patterns to cut out the clear windshield and side
windows material, they have to be bonded on to the fuselage. (4)
What adhesive is recommended for bonding the window material to the
fuselage, especially the windshield and where do I get it?
I would most appreciate inputs from you guys on these
four questions...............................Tandy
