Today I bent up 1/8" piano wire landing gear
front strut. I used a neat device called a "CCKL Creator" to set the apex
angle of the 1/8" piano wire as shown below.
This close up of the CCKL Creator setting shows
the apex angle to be precisely 84 degrees, which is twice the spacer's 42
degree slot angle.
The picture below shows the 1/8" piano wire landing gear front strut mounted
to the firewall using the wooden maple spacers I made. Everything fits
perfectly as you can see!
After I made the two metal clips and secured the
landing gear to the firewall with them, I took the picture below.
I took this picture to show the complete 1/8"
piano wire landing gear front strut.
In the picture below, you see that the 4-40 blind
nuts that hold the metal clips to the firewall are countersunk on the back
side. Notice also that a 1/16" X 1/8" fence has been added to the back of
the firewall to position the ignition unit so as to align its holes with the
holes in the firewall. This insures that the two 2-56 screws that hold the
ignition unit to the back of the firewall will thread in
easily................Tandy
