Covering the top of the Sailplane's stab was more
straight forward than covering the undercambered bottom surface. I had to
use the heating iron a lot more, especially out around the tips.
However, the Polyspan Lite top covering turned out very well as shown
below.
This is another shot in an attempt to show you
how incredibly smooth the Polyspan Lite covering is.
Since I took these pictures, I have applied a
coat 50/50 nitrate dope to the covering. The thing I really like about
Polyspan Lite is that the dope does not glob underneath the covering like it
does with silk.
Since Friday is Sue's birthday, I am going
to take a break from the Sailplane. We are going to drive down to San
Antonio for the weekend. We have reservations at the Hilton's Palacio del
Rio hotel with a private balcony overlooking the River Walk. We will have a
